After decades of community work, media advocacy, and public service, I realized many people underestimate the power of volunteering to shape leadership opportunities. I wrote The Volunteer to show how consistent service can open doors, build influence, and create lasting change in communities.

Leadership does not begin with a title—it begins with participation. When people consistently show up, help solve problems, and serve others, opportunities for leadership naturally follow.

Start small and start local. Even a few hours a month can make a meaningful difference. The key is consistency. Over time, those small commitments often lead to relationships, skills, and opportunities that people never expected.
